I’m not one to brag, well unless there’s something to brag about! And there most certainly is in Tipperary so here’s goes….
Firstly, the Cashel Palace Hotel is opening 1st March 2022, a beautiful Palladian Manor located at the foot of the mighty Rock of Cashel, a 4th century archaeological site bursting with history.

The beautiful spa at Cashel Palace.
The hotel and spa is going to be a destination in itself and highly sought after with just 42 rooms. So get in there quickly if you want to feel like royalty and stay in a Palace when in Ireland. Conde Nast has listed it as one of ‘the most exciting new hotel openings coming in 2022’.
As it’s my home county, I’m allowed to brag just a bit further. Just this week, Cahir Castle won best film location in Europe!!!! Cahir castle was the film location for The Green Knight and previously Excalibur and The Tudors and overcame stiff competition from locations such as in Spain for The Crown, Germany for The Queen’s Gambit and Norway for Dune.
It’s situated 10 miles from Cashel sitting right on the River Suir in Co. Tipperary. A really well preserved medieval castle complete with murder hole and dungeons makes it a must-see.
We have lots of other things to offer our visitors, namely an excellent local food and drink scene. To drop a few names – Cashel Blue cheese which is a household name and exported to over 40 countries. Tipperary distillery is a craft distillery growing their own barley for their whiskey making on Ballindoney farm. Orchards full of delicious apples can be found at the Trass’ Apple Farm. These orchards produce juicy, crisp apples that in turn give their bright, fresh flavours to the handmade and pressed apple juice that Cornelius Trass produces on the farm.
We are a farming county so we can build in a visit to a working farm on your tour.
Plenty of forest and river walks await followed by a well-deserved Irish coffee.
As I said, I don’t like to brag unless it’s warranted.
